Firefly Photography has a new look! If you've been following for a while, that's pretty obvious. (By the way, THANK YOU for sticking with me!)

It's not just the look, however, that has changed. This winter (thanks to a short term living situation and unfortunate polar vortex) I've had the opportunity to really take a hard look at what I want this business to be for people and, well, make it happen! If you're wondering what that means or thinking it's a cover-up way of saying I sat around and twittled my thumbs while day-dreaming and pinterest-stalking... oh. oh no. no no no.

Building a business is terrifying, overwhelming, exhilarating, defeating, rewarding, and empowering all at the same time. It can either be an incredible, full-filling venture or a money-pit of self-destruction. No exaggeration. I obviously prefer to make my go at it run along the lines of the first option so I let the English major inside me roar once more and I dove headfirst into literature for answers.

Books about business. Books about marketing. Books about working with people. Articles from leading entrepreneurs and photographers and designers and people screaming motivational messages in my face. All so that I could make Firefly Photography something worth-while. I don't want to just be another girl who picked up a nice camera and started charging money. Of course that's how it inevitably started, but I am not that girl anymore. I have poured my heart, passion, time, and energy into this art. Yes, I want it to be a successful, profitable business, earning money to support my family and myself with something that I love. But more importantly, I want to be able to give something back to people. Something with value and quality and meaning. Something unique. Something that is worth every penny. Something special that clients can't wait to share with their friends and families and their kids for years and years down the road.

That is the kind of service and product that is Firefly Photography.
