New people, new adventures, and new opportunities continue to unfold here in Charlottesville and I could not be more excited about the possibilities for Firefly Photography. My most recent shoot involved photographing the ending performance for a synchronized swimming summer camp; who would have seen that coming?!

The opportunity came about over coffee and conversation with a new connection/friend, Jennifer Hamlin, who owns the incredibly prominent and classy wedding planning business Events With Panache here in Charlottesville. (She's also just launched a new website, The Bridal Ring for current and former brides to buy/sell their DIY wedding decor in order to spread the love around the wedding community! Such a resourceful idea, right?!)

Jennifer glowed as she described her daughter's joy after discovering the Charlottesville Swans and I just had to see for myself what it was all about! I mean, how many youth synchronized swimming teams do you know of? This was my first encounter with one, and I'll just say, I was SO impressed! I mean, after about one minute afloat in any body of water, I start to flail like a drowning poodle. But these girls were exerting some serious effort and they looked like they were having so much fun at it, too!

And since my whole photography style focuses around photographing genuine fun, this was a real treat. I think it's so awesome that our area is providing this unique activity for young girls to explore. Congratulations, Swans on a great performance!
