In preparation for a first baby, new parents often find themselves among piles of gifted diapers, clothing, and gadgets to ease the transition into parenthood. But this couple was gifted a photo session with me, and I know I'm partial to sentiment, but I think there are few gifts more valuable than the one that tells a story of new life and family.
This logistics of this session was like a Pinterest dream - their beautiful home was light and airy, the atmosphere calm and serene, and baby Oliver sleeping sweetly for almost the entire thing. His elephant-themed nursery was adorably minimalist with the sweetest, simple touches.
But the thing that stood out to me and that I gravitated toward the most about their session was the palpable love this couple expressed towards one another and their new son.
They cuddled him and whispered in his ear, settling into the comfort of closeness with one another so easily it was like I was barely there. I actually had to tell myself to stay quiet because they just were so cozy and sweet in these moments- sharing a squeeze or a kiss-- it was just so apparent how cherished this boy and how strong their connection was already.
I left with a warm heart and even if the moment after I left Oliver started crying or the night was filled with restlessness (we all know it's not always that calm and lovely, right?!), we were able to capture a beautiful part of their story in those first few days that says "it's all so worth it."
