When Kristen emailed me about capturing her wedding to long time high-school sweet-heart Ryan, I was ecstatic. This is more than a random couple - we went to multiple homecomings and proms together, I danced to bubbly pop music at summer lake-house parties with Kristen, and painted Ryan's face for more than one loud-crowd Friday night football game. Though weddings are not my central focus as a photographer, I was beyond honored that she chose to hire me for their big day, as a both a photographer and friend, and I knew that the celebration would be one full of love, laughter, and memorable dance moves.
The wedding took place at Whitehall Manor in Bluemont, Virginia on literally the most perfect June day. The grounds of this location are breathtaking and the quintessential representation of southern-chic. Sweet personal touches graced the day like black and white snapshots from throughout their relationship lining the white ceremony chairs and the cursive, twine cake-topper made by the bride and her bridesmaids. And speaking of bridesmaids - this bridal party was quite the crew of personality. Several of the groomsmen were also high school friends of mine, and when we mixed them with a group of young, eccentric ladies, it made for some pretty entertaining moments. Throughout the whole day though, the love between friends, family and this amazing couple was palpable. By the end of the night, my heart and camera were full of happiness.
It was an absolute pleasure to photograph this day for a most deserving couple. I still our 16 year-old selves goofing around in my basement but still, I could not be more excited to congratulate Ryan & Kristen on tying the knot and entering into the next exciting stage of their lives together.
