The first time I met this family was just after their little girl turned 1 - we met downtown for a family shoot that showcased some Virginia character during their short but sweet time here while in medical school at UVA.Read More
My husband works really hard - he's passionate, creative, dedicated, and a true leader down to his core. Yet, he has always inspired me with the way he's about to "shut off" and create memorable experiences, wholly present and loving, whenever the opportunity arises.Read More
Earlier this year, I introduced the Kirkpatrick family and a little bit about their story through their documentary maternity session at the park and sharing family traditions on a chilly, winter morning.
Well the waiting finally came to fruition as they welcomed sweet baby Henry to the world a few weeks ago, and I was able to capture these proud older siblings meeting their newest addition for the very first time.Read More
Time after time, I hear people say -
"I don't want pictures of myself around the house."
"Photoshoots are just so awkward"
"I’d be self-conscious, I’m not a model, I'm not good enough at posing..."
"I just want one good shot for the Christmas card"
They look at my photos and they don't understand why everyone's not looking at the camera, or why there's hair in front of the kids face, or someone's head is cropped out of the frame.Read More
We are so blessed in Virginia to live so close to so many wonderful destinations. We have found such a home here in Charlottesville, but sometimes, ya just need to get away. When a rare but open weekend presented itself on the calendar, amidst a rainy forecast and desperate desire to slow down for a change, we booked a random little getaway to Williamsburg, VA.Read More

As he carried her bundled against his leather Harley jacket into this adorably cheesy walkthrough Christmas light park, my mind flashed back to my childhood riding shotgun in my daddy's pickup, to hard conversations and teenage years, to his story and pain and struggles, and click.Read More
We crawled into bed on Christmas Eve after filling her stocking, the four of us cuddled in one room of my in-laws' house in PA (my husband, myself, our 2 year old in her sleeping back on the floor, and our 50lb dog on the end of our bed), and whispered about our morning plan and how we were way more excited than she was.

The ease and flow of this session was an absolute dream, thanks to two parents who were all about capturing the fun experiences and adventure they have as a family in this special location. With big plans for the future of its purpose and service, their own children are now a part of its story and will get to grow up as a part of its legacy.Read More
