Featured: Sweet Family Session on the Downtown Mall

Whenever a family reaches out for suggestions about where to have their session, I start by asking them “where do you like to spend time?”

This sweet crew is getting ready to move at the end of the month, so when they started reflecting on what they wanted their photos to really say beyond just looking pretty, they realized that they wanted to capture a piece of the city where they started their family.

  • The brick streets they roamed pushing a stroller with one hand and a gelato in the other.

  • The concert venues they sat cozied up together for date nights.

  • The feeling of love they felt they grew here and the memories they made.

Featured: Meet Baby Benjamin

All lifestyle newborn sessions are special, filled with joy and wonder in a baby's first home. But this session held a whole new level of emotion.

We recognize the joy in birth so readily, but sometimes forget that for many families, there is pain, hurt, or loss there as well. This family tragically lost their first son, so when they welcomed sweet Benjamin to the world, his life was precious in a whole new way. They asked to incorporate their first son's baby blanket into the images, so we literally wrapped Benjamin in the knitted memories of his brother. It was such a powerful sentiment to see these loving parents hold this sweet son, while also honoring the life of their first.

Featured: A Fall Family Session Where Everything Isn't Perfect

So much can change in a year, so when this family reached out for a milestone session for their little girl, I jumped at the the opportunity to work with them again! For N's newborn shoot, we designed several float wrap pieces for their home as well as an heirloom album, but they came to me this time looking for a specific large piece they could hang over their living room couch.

After discussing style and vision, we came up with a plan to capture a breakfast picnic with scenic and rustic feel. After 1 emergency and 1 rain date cancellation, we finally managed to meet on a cloudy, cool fall morning for their session, buuuuut wouldn't you know it, little lady was not feeling well.

I mean, life's tough when you're 1!

Featured: The Hanifi-Sampair family

This family's session is such a sweet reminder that all photos don't have to be wide smiles and sitting still. As I photographed them on a warm, fall evening, I was also reminded just how wonderfully unique siblings are.

Though these two sisters clearly look alike, their personalities are vastly different --the oldest was silly and outgoing, while the youngest was very soft and reserved. As our time together unfolded, I was able to witness some true family dynamics as the parents adjusted their play, their speech, even their gestures toward each child in a way that honored their differences so beautifully without even realizing it.

Featured: A Vintage Styled Fall Family Session

This mom contacted me with a very specific vision for a vintage-styled family session that was also very natural and candid for their fun and lively crew. I was SO on board from day 1 and super excited to collaborate with her vision to create something a little different but that still spoke to my approach of energy and connection! The sweeping hills and stone patios of the Boar's Head Inn was the perfect setting and Michelle did an incredible job sourcing the outfits for the perfect vintage wardrobe pieces for everyone. I mean is that pop of orange perfect or what!?

Featured: Lifestyle Newborn Session with Baby Chase

Early in the year, we celebrated this little man in a big way with this fun balloon pregnancy announcement shoot (seriously, if you missed it, you should pause, check that out first, then head back over for the rest of the story!)

After a rough and troubling pregnancy, mom nurtured and fought hard to keep little man healthy and safe all the way past term, and finally, got to welcome their little miracle baby boy. The affection of these two parents was practically floating in the air. I lost track of the number of times we 'aww'-ed during this session because he was just so sweet.
